when you were not yet born

The Artist went to work
Splashing light in space
Painting all the faces
of the facets of his diamond soul

And here I am…formed by that sacred trust

I am a miraculous reflection of the timeless resurrection
yet the glory I was made for so often falls to rust

My rust had turned to shame
and I could hardly name
the many bridges I had burned

The Father took my shame
And held it in his palm
And spoke a cosmic psalm
to form the dust into this starlit soul

when I am dust again
